March Portraits
Tomorrow is the first day of my portrait-a-day project, and the first sitter is my big brother. When possible I’m going to do a small study before each sitting to try to work out my ideas for the composition and concept. I’m trying to get in as much thinking as possible before each session. Tomorrow’s portrait is particularly hard because Rudy has requested a robotic eye, and deep down I think I’m still afraid of my big brother, so I feel obliged to give it to him! I think it’s a compromise, though. There are also the beginnings of doors (the red-orange rectangles on the upper right corner), which I think will be a part of the McDaniel clan portraits.

It’s never an easy task doing portraits. The little experience I have is from pix and pencil or charcoal (some watercolor, but wouldn’t even count, as they were done a long time ago and w/o much thought).
You are a brave lady and I am sure they will be phenomenal.
HAVE FUN!!
